The family of renowned Ghanaian diplomat and statesman Ambassador James Victor Gbeho has formally informed President John Dramani Mahama of his passing.

A delegation representing the Gbeho family paid a courtesy call on the President, explaining that it was culturally and diplomatically important to officially notify him of the loss before making a public announcement.

Ambassador Gbeho, who was widely regarded as one of Ghana’s finest diplomats, played a significant role in the country’s foreign relations and regional integration efforts.

He served as Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Member of Parliament for the Anlo Constituency, and President of the ECOWAS Commission, formerly known as the Executive Secretary of the regional body.

The late diplomat also represented Ghana in several international assignments, including at the United Nations in New York, where he contributed to global diplomatic engagements.

President Mahama expressed his condolences to the Gbeho family and paid tribute to Ambassador Gbeho’s immense contributions to Ghana, West Africa, and the international community.

Details of his funeral arrangements will be announced by the family at a later date.
