National Coordinator for the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye has resigned. The resignation according to the former Odododiodoo lawmaker is to pave the way for him to contest for a national executive position of the governing National Democratic Congress in the upcoming internal elections. Mr. Vanderpuye had earlier declared his intention to contest for the National Chairmaship slot should the current occupant Johnson Asiedu Nketia decide not to see re-election given his presidential ambition. The National Functional Executive Committee of the NDC announced any government appointee seeking to contest in the upcoming election must resign 6 months ahead in order to be eligible. The criterion has seen a number of resignations of late including that of the deputy CEO for the Students Loan Trust Fund Kojo Danquah who is seeking to be deputy National Communications Officer and Director-General for the National Information Technology Agency, NITA Dr. Mark-Oliver Kevor seeking re-election as Eastern Regional Chairman for the NDC.
Below is the resignation letter of the former Minister for Youth and Sports Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye:
