ACCRA, Ghana — A one-storey residential building, consisting of ground and first-floor apartments, collapsed this evening at Adenta Newsite near Da Yesu Ase Supermarket during heavy rainfall, trapping five occupants under the debris.
The five trapped individuals include two females and three males, among them three children—one girl and two boys.
Prior to the arrival of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rescue team from National Headquarters, two injured occupants had already been rescued by community members and taken to the hospital for treatment. Fire service personnel have since rescued two additional injured occupants. All four rescued victims are receiving medical care at the 37 Military Hospital. A dog that had also been trapped was successfully rescued from the site.

Rescue operations are ongoing as GNFS personnel continue efforts to locate the remaining occupant, a woman still trapped beneath the rubble.
The Ghana National Fire Service commended the swift assistance provided by local community members during the initial rescue efforts and acknowledged the support of other agencies collaborating at the scene.

Authorities have assured the public that further updates will be provided as the rescue operation progresses.
