MTN Ghana has announced that from June 1, 2026, all Mobile Money (MoMo) wallet-to-bank account transfers will attract a fee of 0.75% per transaction, capped at GH₵5.
The telecom giant informed millions of its customers via text message on May 25, 2026, that this new charge applies regardless of whether the bank account belongs to the MoMo wallet owner.

For example, a GH₵100 transfer will incur a fee of 75 pesewas, while transfers of GH₵667 and above will hit the maximum GH₵5 charge.
MTN clarified that this fee applies strictly to wallet-to-bank transfers. Wallet-to-wallet transactions and agent cash-in and cash-out services will continue under existing charges.
This change marks a significant shift in MTN’s mobile financial services pricing and is expected to attract attention from consumer groups and regulators due to MoMo’s vital role in Ghana’s digital payment ecosystem.
