Big Push: Roads Minister gives Enchi-Elubo contractor last chance to speed up or lose job

Minister for Roads and Highways Kwame Governs Agbodza has warned the contractor working on Enchi-Elubo road; Top Engineering International his contract will be terminated if he fails to speed up works. The minister upon inspection of the Big Push Project described the pace of work as the worst he’s seen. Some residents during a stopover shared with the minister their frustrations including deaths of babies due delays for pregnant women, lack of health professionals, teachers all due to the terrible nature of the road.
After doing the over 71 kilometers stretch Mr. Agbodza disclosed but for the ¢80.2 million mobilization fee paid the contractor, the contract would’ve been terminated immediately. The Adaklu MP declared the old order where contractors take payments and fail to execute their job is over. The minister charged the CEO for the Ghana Highways Authority Mallam Ishaq who pleaded for the contractor to be given a grace period to redeem himself to immediately convene a meeting to salvage the situation within a week.

The Western North Regional Minister Wilbert Petty Brentum and the MCE for the area took turns to lament over the slow pace of the project. They however welcome the intervention of the minister expressing hope the caution would get the contractor to up his game.
