The National Health Insurance Authority, NHIA, says it has disbursed GH¢256.5 million to credentialed healthcare providers across the country, bringing its total claims payments for 2026 to approximately GH¢1.46 billion.
In a statement, the NHIA said the latest payment was made in two tranches on July 29 and August 3, 2026, and mainly covers healthcare services provided to National Health Insurance Scheme members between January and June.
Private healthcare providers received GH¢113.9 million, representing 44.39 percent of the total amount, while public health facilities received GH¢97.3 million, with mission facilities receiving GH¢45.3 million.
The latest disbursement follows an earlier payment of GH¢219.8 million made on July 1, covering claims submitted up to May.
The NHIA says the payments are part of management’s commitment to reimbursing healthcare providers monthly to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of services to NHIS members.
Chief Executive of the NHIA, Dr Victor Asare Bampoe, says timely reimbursement allows health facilities to procure medicines and other essential supplies while sustaining the delivery of healthcare services.
He says regular claims payments will also help strengthen healthcare delivery, improve patient outcomes and boost public confidence in the National Health Insurance Scheme.
