The Ashanti Regional Police Command has interdicted Police Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah of the Asuoyeboah Police Station over his alleged involvement in a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor in Kumasi.

According to police sources, the officer allegedly left his mobile phone at the robbery scene and later went to the police station to lodge a complaint that the phone had been stolen.
However, the robbery victim had also reported the incident at the same police station and reportedly identified the officer as one of the robbery suspects, leading to the discovery of the alleged link.

The suspect was subsequently arrested by the Ashanti Regional Anti-Robbery Unit following intelligence-led operations.
Police say a search conducted at the officer’s residences led to the retrieval of a Bruni Mod. 92 gas pistol, ammunition, and cash amounting to GHS 9,835.00.

The statement further disclosed that Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah was arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on May 11, 2026, and remanded into police custody. He is expected to reappear before the court on May 29, 2026.
Police say investigations into the case are ongoing.
