The 2025 World English-Language Scrabble Players Association Championship has begun at the Palms by Eagles Hotel in Accra.
The tournament will see 24 countries from Africa, Europe, Asia, and America represent their various countries in the 3-day world event that is being hosted by Ghana for the first time.

Over 280 athletes participated in Day 1 of the event, with experienced players from Ghana, Britain, South Africa, India, Nigeria, and Australia, showing high levels of competition.
President of the Pan African Scrabble Association, Adekoyejo Adegbesan, praised Ghana for good organisation of the international tournament.
For his part, Haruna Adamu, president of the Scrabble Association of Ghana who spoke to EIB SPORTS, attributed the smooth opening ceremony to hard work and gave credit to the organizing committee.

The tournament will end on Friday the 14 of November and is being streamed on the official page of the Scrabble Federation on YouTube
