Private Sector Innovation Must be Aligned with Government’s Policy Direction- Sam George

Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George has underscored the importance of aligning private sector innovation with government’s policy direction direction under his ministry. Speaking after leading Country Director for Huawei to pay a courtesy call on President Mahama Mr. George He noted that Huawei’s expertise and investments in ICT infrastructure remain a vital part of Ghana’s digital acceleration journey.

The visit highlighted Huawei’s long-term commitment to Ghana’s digital transformation agenda, as the company pledged to deepen its collaboration with government in the areas of connectivity, cloud computing, and the future of digital skills development. Discussions also touched on the expansion of rural telephony networks, digital sovereignty, and the deployment of critical ICT infrastructure to support national development.

President Mahama commended Huawei for its continued partnership with Ghana and reaffirmed his administration’s determination to leverage technology to create inclusive opportunities, strengthen national security systems, and drive economic growth.
The Huawei Country Director expressed gratitude to the President and the Minister for their support, reiterating the company’s vision to position Ghana as a digital hub in Africa, with a strong focus on Ai Cloud computing, connectivity, innovation, and skills training for young people.
The courtesy call reaffirmed the government’s commitment to deepening partnerships that advance Ghana’s digital transformation, positioning the nation as a leader in Africa’s technology-driven future
