Member of Parliament for Chianapaga Nikyema Billa Alamzy has extended financial support to 169 tertiary students in the constituency. The students received GH¢1,000 each amounting to GH¢169,000. The initiative according to the MP is funded through his share of the Common Fund, forms part of his pledge to support needy students within the constituency. In total, Hon. Alamzy plans to support 300 students, beginning with the 169 beneficiaries. The remaining 131 students will receive their packages in November this year.
The event was graced by the District Chief Executive, the Constituency Chairman, the Constituency Secretary and other party executives.
In his address, Hon. Alamzy explained that his passion for supporting students stems from the high poverty levels in the constituency. He encouraged the beneficiaries to take their academic work seriously, assuring them of his continued commitment to their education.
The students expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Alamzy for his timely intervention, noting that the support would help them meet their financial obligations in school.
The MP had already awarded four students full scholarships from his personal resources. Additionally, he has committed to the renovation of three schools, namely: Katiu Primary School, Tedam Junior High School ‘A’ and Kandiga Primary School, with funds already allocated for execution.
As part of his broader educational agenda, Hon. Alamzy pledged to equip all Junior High Schools in the constituency with modern furniture, beginning with a pilot project at Tedam JHS ‘A’. He further revealed that most schools affected by rainstorms and officially reported to him have already been repaired, a commitment he pledged to continue.
The MP also donated 42 streetlights to the North Zone, with the East Zone set to receive theirs too, in line with his promise to enhance the lighting challenges in the constituency.
