A staunch supporter of founder and President Candidate for Movement of Change Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen has deserted him. Benjamin Acheampong Akowuah has officially announced his return to the New Patriotic Party, NPP.
Benjamin Akowuah who was a member of the NPP’s National Communications Team exited when Alan resigned to form the Movement for Change in the run up to the 2024 General Elections.
Until his resignation Akowuah served as the Operations Lead – Movement For Change (Global/Diaspora).
In a post of Facebook Benjamin Akowuah disclosed his decision to return to the NPP is after a “deep reflection”.
“In September 2023, I supported Chief Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen’s decision to step down from the NPP Presidential Primaries and subsequently resigning from the New Patriotic Party (NPP: Development in Freedom) to contest as an Independent Candidate. My decision was borne out of strong convictions at the time, my personal principles and political loyalty.”
“After deep reflection, personal introspection and few consultations on the journey for the past two years, I have decided to return to the elephant family for good.”
According to Akowuah his decision to rejoin the NPP has already been communicated to the Canada branch of the party where he currently resides.
“Real Patriotism is to stand by the country or the NPP and not individuals or public officials. However, I still hold Chief Alan in high esteem for his contribution to the NPP since formation 1992. I have officially communicated my decision to play active role in the party again to the NPP General Secretary in Canada where I am based now.”
“I believe with the right leadership and unity, the NPP presents a viable alternative to governing the country and leading us to the promise land.” He stated.
Below is the social media post of Benjamin Akowuah:
AM BACK TO THE ELEPHANT FAMILY FOR GOOD.
“Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the President or any other public official, save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country.”- Theodore Roosevelt.
In September 2023, I supported Chief Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen’s decision to step down from the NPP Presidential Primaries and subsequently resigning from the New Patriotic Party (NPP: Development in Freedom) to contest as an Independent Candidate. My decision was borne out of strong convictions at the time, my personal principles and political loyalty.
After deep reflection, personal introspection and few consultations on the journey for the past two years, I have decided to return to the elephant family for good. As indicated in my opening quote. Real Patriotism is to stand by the country or the NPP and not individuals or public officials. However, I still hold Chief Alan in high esteem for his contribution to the NPP since formation 1992.
I have officially communicated my decision to play active role in the party again to the NPP General Secretary in Canada where I am based now. I believe with the right leadership and unity, the NPP presents a viable alternative to governing the country and leading us to the promise land.
I want to be part of the rebuilding of the party and working hard again to regain its glory.
Just as Barack Obama once said and I quote;
“The strongest democracies flourish from frequent and lively debate, but they endure when people of every background and belief find a way to set aside smaller differences in service of a greater purpose.”
I set aside any differences I have had persons within the NPP in the last 2 years and I call for us to unite for the greater purpose of securing Victory in 2028.
Let’s make Elephant a winning symbol again…
Thank You.
