The District Court in Bolgatanga has issued an order restraining the planning, organization, and celebration of the 2025 Damba Festival in Bawku. This decision, made on September 25, 2025, aims to maintain peace in the Bawku area and its surroundings.
The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) announced that the court order is intended to prevent any potential disruptions to peace in the region. The Damba Festival, a significant cultural event, has been a point of contention in the past due to the ongoing chieftaincy disputes in the area.
The District Court’s order restrains the President and members of the 2025 Damba Planning Committee from organizing the festival.
