The National Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has assured flagbearer aspirants and their supporters of a free, transparent and fair process in the upcoming internal election.
The assurance follows comments by Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye and Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi hinting of possible manipulation of polling station albums and the process. In a statement General Secretary for the NPP Justin Frimpong Kodua assured no single individual had the power to make determinations regarding the party albums.
“Leadership will continue to ensure that every stage of our electoral activities reflects the highest standards of integrity and credibility,” He stated.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the compilation of the polling station album strictly adheres to established compliance procedures.
“The National Secretariat will, at the appropriate time, issue clear and transparent guidelines, protocols and procedures designed to safeguard integrity, credibility and fairness at every stage of the process,” Kodua assured.
The statement, therefore, assured all stakeholders, particularly polling station executives across the country, that any pronouncements to the contrary should be disregarded and treated with the utmost contempt they deserve.
Presidential primary
On statements by some leading members of the party that the presidential primaries was fixed on January 31, 2026, to favour a particular aspirant, it said the statement was unfounded.
It noted that public pronouncements by its Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, that the party’s presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, was calculated to favour a particular candidate, were false.
It explained that the National Council exhaustively deliberated and took the decision in the party’s supreme and strategic interest.
“Given the caliber of the members of the National Council, no individual can manipulate or influence a decision in his or her favor.
“The decision to hold an early congress is intended solely to provide the party with sufficient time and strategic advantage to reorganize, reposition and recapture power in 2028,” He explained
