Ghana’s fight against violent crime has taken a significant leap forward. After months of meticulous investigations, surveillance, and collaboration with reliable informants, the Ghana Police Service has successfully dismantled a ruthless criminal network responsible for a string of violent robberies targeting rural banks and financial institutions.

The operation, spanning the Ahafo, Western, Central, Eastern, and Ashanti Regions, led to the arrest of ten suspects. Tragically, three others lost their lives during a shootout with police, while a manhunt is underway for those still at large.
Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno announced the breakthrough during a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. He stated, “So far, we have successfully arrested 10 suspects. Three other suspects were shot dead during a shootout with the police. We have launched a manhunt for the remaining suspects who are on the run.”

The police recovered an arsenal of fourteen weapons, including AK-47 rifles, pump-action guns, a single-barrel gun, pistols, ammunition, vehicles, and mobile phones.
The IGP commended the Ashanti Regional Commander, the intelligence team, and all officers involved for their critical roles in the operation’s success. He also thanked the public for their invaluable cooperation in providing credible information that led to the crackdown.

IGP Yohuno assured that the police will continue to make life difficult for criminals, urging citizens to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to support ongoing efforts to keep communities safe.
