Charlie Kirk Killing: Jimmy Kimmel returns to his late-night talk show after suspension

US comedian Jimmy Kimmel will return to his late-night talk show on Tuesday following a brief suspension over jokes related to the death of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk.

Disney, which owns the network that airs “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” initially suspended the show, stating that some comments were “ill-timed and thus insensitive.” After several days of discussions with Kimmel, the company announced the show’s return.

The suspension came amid threats from the federal TV regulator to revoke ABC’s broadcast license, sparking nationwide debates over free speech and censorship.

However, Sinclair, the largest ABC affiliate group in the US, announced it would replace “Jimmy Kimmel Live” with news programming on its regional ABC stations starting Tuesday. Nexstar Media, another major TV station owner, also said last week it would not air the show “for the foreseeable future” and has not yet commented on Kimmel’s reinstatement.

The decision to suspend Kimmel’s show drew criticism from free speech advocates, who condemned it as an infringement on free expression.
