Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has reassured residents of Dodowa, Afienya, and Dawhenya that the Big Push road project will be completed on schedule to bring them relief. According to the minister his assurance is hinged on his believe in the ability of the contractor, Oswal Investment Limited, whom he described as one of Ghana’s most reliable local contractors.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony in the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Mr. Agbodza emphasized that the contractor has both the capacity and experience to complete the 24.8km stretch on time and to the highest quality standards.
“When we say we can do this project within 24 months, we mean business. The people of Greater Accra and Ga-Dangbe, don’t be worried. The contractor on this stretch, I believe, can complete the project in less than 24 months,” he assured.
The Minister noted that although the Ministry of Roads and Highways currently owes contractors nearly GH¢40 billion, President John Dramani Mahama has demonstrated firm political will by launching the Big Push programme, which represents the largest single investment in the country’s road sector.
He further stressed that with GH¢13.85 billion already allocated to the programme, the government will ensure strict monitoring to guarantee results that are both visible and transformative.
Mr. Agbodza concluded by saying that the Dodowa–Afienya–Dawhenya road project would be a symbol of trust between government and citizens, assuring the people that their road is in safe and capable hands.
